Back in the day, Microsoft had the Neo and the Duo, but they were quite poor. Additionally, the Neo was their take on a foldable device.

It looks like when you tried to add another app to the Duo’s app docking station, it created a folder that can hold multiple additional apps. If I’m seeing that correctly, that’s great! 🙌🏽 You can just tap the folder and it opens up to show all the apps you’ve placed inside it. That makes the docking station even more useful!

I’ve owned the galaxy fold 8 now for two weeks and I will definitely be returning it and going for the iPhone duo. There is nothing wrong with the fold 8 and if you are an android person, you will love this phone, but since I’m a little more tied to the Apple ecosystem, I found the fold very fun and customizable and I can see why people love it — but when it came down to day-to-day functionality and actually trying to use this phone for very standard things, it just kinda came up short with how the apps are optimized, Instagram was sometimes really laggy and the videos wouldn’t load. Sometimes the screens touch function just wouldn’t work. I would be touching around the phone and nothing would be responding and I don’t even have any fingernails, but somehow there are scratches already on the inside of the screen because the screen is so delicate I will really miss the live wallpapers that I have on the lock screen that ate really cute and I love the clipboard function - I’m impressed that you can have iMessage and AirDrop on here and there really wasn’t anything lost coming from m iPhone, but I’m just at an age where I don’t need this level of customization and this many settings on a phone and I’d rather just have the foldable iPhone duo for its simplicity & flow of all my other products

I have the iPhone Air and love it. At first months ago I wasn’t expecting to like the duo but man I have to say that phone is sick !

A reason I like my phone is that I can use it in almost any situation and environment without having to worry overly much about the thing. Modern phones are surprisingly robust. And I'm not yet convinced folding phones are the same. Like if dust gets in between the screens while folding it up or I sit or lie on it by accident or it falls. Also fewer moving parts that can degrade. Definitely interested to see videos once this comes out about how durable it really is but I think I'm fine with a slab tbh.

You know it’s crazy because I’ve looked a decent amount of content around these phones since the launch. I think It's a big missed opportunity from Apple to not include a stylus like the Samsung s26 line. Having the extra screen real estate is nice, but I think adding a built in stylus would add a lot of extra versatility.

That trick of hiding the crease and the fading effect you mentioned when opening the screen costs about 1 real here in Brazil. They even had stickers where the animation changed depending on the lighting, and they were basically a blend of two animations. That was their “premium” solution. 5:59

13:40 - I dont mind the interior selfie cam taking a hit in quality, in order for it to be hidden. I rarely use the selfie camera on my current Fold in its open position, and would much rather have a full screen without the hole punch. But that’s just me.

The phones literally have 3 other cameras that can be used for higher quality selfies, compromising the primary feature of the phone for what is clearly meant to be a video call camera is ridiculous.

13:50 I think that the camera quality on the big screen area is not such a big of a deal, you have one not only on the small creen but you can also use the "main cameras" over there, the only use that I would need the hidden selfie camera is on videocalls, and not much else, so...

Great Review. Betting now, 1 year = hinge flex cable failure just like all other foldables. I have seen so many of these foldable phones taken in for repair that I’m going to say “No thank you” don’t need anymore drama in my life. 😂❤

The volume rockers being on the top is actually a really nice touch and it tells us what apple thinks/designs this device to do: to be a true phone-tablet combo that also acts as a huge phone (when you open the display and rotate it vertical). It's in similar vein to how Surface Pro devices have had volume rockers on the top instead of to the sides: because they design it to also be used in the vertical configuration

3:47 correction, as of Sept 10th (and probably until the iPhone 19 or lower model 18s), they are not offering anything for the iPhone 17e. I’ve upgraded all the e-model phones and they do not allow them to be traded in for the newest models release. Which is crazy because I can trade the 16e for the 18, but couldn’t for the 17.

I don’t suppose it matters that much but given that you’re taking their sponsorship dollars you should probably know that ridge is redistributing that power bank as a white-label product. I got one as a Christmas gift two years ago before Ridge offered it for sale and it’s branded completely different. Same exact form factor and specs. 16:18
